Tricia Major Hurdle, a 1998 graduate of Sacred Heart of Jesus School, has been named the school’s 2016 Mother Seton Award recipient and will be honored at the 2016 Mother Seton Awards Ceremony on Thursday at Drusilla Seafood.
The award is sponsored each year by the Diocesan Home and School Association and honors individuals for exemplary volunteer service and dedication to home, school and church.
The honoree espouses gospel values and emulates the qualities of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first native-born citizen of the United States to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church, according to a news release.
Hurdle is an active volunteer at the school, including room mom, “Come Lord Jesus” leader and cafeteria server. She has served on and headed committees including teacher appreciation, auction and fall fest.
Her daughter Taylor is a 2013 graduate, and her daughter Maggie is a member of the Sacred Heart Class of 2016, the release said. Hurdle is married to Brady Hurdle and is an active parishioner at St. Joseph Church in Grosse Tete.
