Dauphin celebrated her 97th birthday Monday with cake and ice cream. Her family gathered on Saturday for a bigger party.

The Shenandoah neighborhood resident retired after years of working for the federal government.

Many of us wish we could live such a long and successful life and still enjoy chocolate and ice cream.

Master Gardeners

Representatives from the Louisiana Master Gardener program will be at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to present a two-part class on growing vegetables and micro-irrigation for adults.

The Louisiana Master Gardener program is a service and educational activity offered by the LSU Agricultural Center.

The Jones Creek Regional Branch Library is the place to pick up some tips during a 9:30 a.m. program March 19.

The free four-hour photography basics workshop will be presented by Bridgett Mayo and Gail Dixon, of the Louisiana Photographic Society.

They’ll talk about shooting in manual mode and explain the exposure triangle.

Meditation workshop

Adults looking for a way to relax can attend a meditation and relaxation workshop lead by Nitin Gupta at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library.

The goals of the workshop include promoting relaxation, reducing stress, improving focus and creating peace within that reflects on the outside.

Alzheimer’s caregivers meet

Dianne Miller will lead an information and sharing meeting for adult caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia at 1 p.m. March 21 at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library.

Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area sponsors the free program.
