Elton John and his band will perform at the Baton Rouge River Center Friday, March 29. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 18.

John previously performed in Baton Rouge at the LSU Assembly Center in October 1993 and October 1992. His 1992 concert featured a full band. John returned in 1993 with a show called “An Evening with Elton John and Ray Cooper,” featuring himself and percussionist Cooper.

John’s March 29 show at the River Center will be his first full-band performance in Baton Rouge in more than 20 years.

John’s band features guitarist Davey Johnstone; percussionist John Mahon; drummer Nigel Olsson; keyboardist Kim Bullard; and bassist Matt Bissonette.

John’s dozens of hits include “Your Song,” “Rocket Man,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” and “Crocodile Rock.”

John is among history’s top-selling artists. He’s released 35 gold albums, 25 platinum albums and 29 consecutive Top 40 hits. Internationally, John has sold more than 250 million records. Since his career began in 1969, he’s nearly 3,000 concerts.
