Capital Area Transit will alter bus routes over the weekend because of Mardi Gras parades in Baton Rouge.

On Friday night, the Krewe of Southdowns Mardi Gras parade is causing CATS to reroute its 15 Garden District and 18 LSU/Cortana Mall routes. Ten stops along Lee Drive, Perkins Road and Marigold Avenue will be cancelled.

The Spanish Town parade on Saturday will reroute eight CATS buses and cancel more than 40 stops.

The buses being rerouted are 10 Scenic Highway, 12 Government Jefferson, 22 Winbourne, 15 Garden District Trolley, 103 Airport Express, 44 Florida Boulevard, 47 Highland Road and 16 Capital Park Trolley. Stops that will be cancelled run along Main Street, 3rd Street, 4th Street, North Street, Lafayette Street, Florida Street, Government Street and more.

All East Baton Rouge Parish city-parish offices will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 9 for Mardi Gras. However, garbage, trash and recyclables will all still be collected on Mardi Gras.

The state courthouse is closed on Feb. 9, but the federal courthouse will remain open.

The downtown River Center Branch Library will be closed Saturday because of the Spanish Town parade. All libraries will be closed on Tuesday.
