Members of Louisiana Women Veterans took part in a Women’s History Month program March 12 honoring women who served in World War II.
Irma Darphin, U.S. Army Nurse Corps, and Lillian Hoover, U.S. Navy Waves, spoke to those attending about their experiences in World War II.
The LWV group also brought a display featuring photographs of women who served during World War II and uniforms worn by women during the war.
Louisiana Women Veterans is made up of women who have served in all branches of the military, a news release said. The group’s main mission is to serve as honor guards at funerals of female veterans.
