A family of seven has been displaced after an overloaded electrical outlet sparked a fire at their home early Tuesday, officials said.
Shortly before 5 a.m., the Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a fire in the 5200 block of Wilmot Street. The fire was contained to one bedroom, BRFD spokesman Curt Monte said.
All seven family members escaped without any injuries, Monte said.
The rest of the home sustained smoke damage. Red Cross was called to assist the family.
