The Cathedral of St. Joseph in downtown Baton Rouge invites grandparents, parents and their children to the seventh annual Grand Day on Sunday. The theme is “The Joy of Creation.”

Mass with the Rev. Paul D. Counce begins at noon, when all children and their grandparents will receive a special blessing. The Baton Rouge Magnet High Festival Singers will perform.

An outdoor street party following the Mass will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, pony rides, music, a petting zoo, Bubbles the Camel, face painting and caricature sketching.

Cardio on the dance floor

Peoples Health will sponsor a cardio line-dancing class with instructor Jackie Porter on Monday in the first-floor hospital classroom at Ochsner Medical Center, 17000 Medical Center Drive.

Highland Road Community Park will be the launching pad to find hidden treasures all over Baton Rouge during a geocaching session from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Use your smartphone or one of BREC’s GPS units to track down geocache containers, some of which may offer a swap; bring a small token or trinket to trade for something better.

Introduction to Word

A introductory class on Microsoft Word will be offered to adults from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Jones Creek Regional Branch Library. Participants must have a basic knowledge of Windows, how to use a mouse and basic typing.

Jones Creek Regional Branch Library staff will lead a session on online catalogs and databases from 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

Attendees will learn how to locate books, place holds, renew items, access databases with full-text magazines and thousands of books, learn languages and more, all from their home computer.
