Workers, researchers and volunteers with the LSU Agricultural Center Botanic Gardens at Burden are busy these days turning a corn field into a corn maze.

At least once a week, they calculate and cut the corn crop into the shape of a pelican, sun and trees.

Visitors will get to see the finished product Oct. 3 at the annual Corn Maze Festival, which features a petting farm, pumpkin painting, a hay mountain, hayrides and a giant slingshot.

Admission is $10; children 3 and younger get in free.

The corn maze will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 17 and Oct. 24.

A Night Maze and Bonfire is planned for Oct. 31 at the Botanic Gardens at Burden.
