Roy Keller, director of the Louisiana Technology Transfer Office in the LSU Louisiana Business & Technology Center, has been named one of two SBIR Persons of the Year.

He is the state’s Small Business Innovation Research representative and was recognized for helping to create an excellent SBIR program in the state and helping SBIR programs in other states learn to do a better job of supporting SBIR and small business.

He also has educated senators and representatives on SBIR/STTR successes to keep congressional support strong for SBIR by giving testimony in Washington D.C.

The SBIR and Small Business Technology Transfer programs are coordinated by the Small Business Administration.


Jason MacMorran, director with P&N Consulting Services Group, has been awarded the American Institute of CPAs’ Business Valuation Volunteer of the Year Award.

The honor was based on his continuous efforts for improving and supporting the profession of business valuation.

He frequently speaks on valuation topics and has served on the Business Valuation Committee for the past three years and chaired both the business valuation website and statement on standards for valuation services toolkit task forces.


Wen Jin Meng, the LSU Gerald Cire and Lena Grand Williams professor of mechanical engineering, has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.

Fellowship is awarded to academic inventors who have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating inventions that have made an impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society. Meng is an inventor or co-inventor on seven U.S. patents. His inventions cover a range of areas including fuel cell components, automotive components, microscale devices and microfabrication technologies.

He is also founder of Enervana Technologies LLC, a Baton Rouge startup company focusing on design and manufacturing of metal-based microsystems.

Precision Collision Center of Gonzales has been chosen as the 2014 IMPACT Elite Member of the Year for excellence in the collision industry from the marketing arm of the Refinish Distributors Alliance. Owners are Jim and Debbie McGrew.
