A medical clinic is set to open in downtown Baton Rouge next month, offering walk-in treatment for acute care.
Downtown Healthcare & Wellness will move into 307 Third St. in the space that had been occupied by Our Lady of the Lake’s downtown urgent care clinic. The clinic closed in March after being open for nearly six years because patients were choosing other OLOL clinics that were closer to their homes.
Elizabeth Eure, a family nurse practitioner who will own the clinic along with Holly Chaney, told the Downtown Development District board of commissioners Tuesday that Downtown Healthcare will offer a range of services, including family medicine, prescription refills, medical screenings, nutritional consulting, anti-aging treatments and Botox injections. Drs. Michael Duplechain and Thomas Guillot will be the collaborating physicians.
Eure said the clinic will fill a need that exists downtown because of the closing of the OLOL facility. Staff at the clinic also will make calls to downtown hotels and offices.
The clinic will open July 15. Its hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours may be extended into Saturday.
