The Old Hammond Square Shopping Center, which was heavily damaged by a fire, has been sold.
Amar Brothers LLC bought the center at 9380 Old Hammond Highway for $705,000 in a deal that was filed Wednesday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s Office. The seller was KFC Enterprises LLC, which is represented by Kevin Cronin.
Troy Burton, an agent with Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate, said Edward and Darrell Amar own the Chevron station next to Old Hammond Square. Burton and Donato Mucciacciaro, also with Kurz & Hebert, represented the sellers.
Plans are to demolish the shopping center that sits on the property, subdivide the 1.16-acre site and put a stand-alone business with a drive-through at the end of the property closest to the gas station, Burton said. There are no plans to expand the gas station onto the site.
Old Hammond Square was damaged in a December 2013 fire that destroyed the Time Out Lounge, a popular neighborhood bar.
