Neena Kelfstrom, The Runnels School

Gina E. Eubanks, associate vice chancellor and program leader for nutrition and food sciences at the LSU Agricultural Center and vice chancellor for extension at the Southern University AgCenter, received the Leadership Award at the Booker T. Washington Economic Summit at Tuskegee University in Alabama.

She was cited for her work that highlights and promotes strategic directions and educational programs to meet the needs of cooperative extension clientele throughout Louisiana.


Neena Kelfstrom, theatre program chairwoman and drama teacher at The Runnels School, has been selected to receive the 2014 Distinguished Fine Arts Alumni Award from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. The award honors alumni who have made significant contributions to their professions and communities.

Kelfstrom holds a bachelor of arts degree in theater from McMurry and a master of fine arts degree in theater with an emphasis in performance from LSU. She has served as artistic and executive director of Playmakers of Baton Rouge and acted and directed at Theatre Baton Rouge. She also taught theater as an adjunct professor at LSU.

Central Plumbing Co. was presented the Safety First! Contractor of the Year Award at the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors Association’s national convention.

Owners of the company are Jay and Lisa Payne.

Tiya Support Services LLC has been named by the U.S. Army Installation Management Command as the Directorate of Public Works Support Contractor of the Year. Tiya, a facilities operations and maintenance company based in Baton Rouge, is owned by the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana. The award recognizes Tiya’s performance and customer service as the prime contractor for the Fort Benning Base Operations Support Services contract.
