When "American Idol" Finalist Laine Hardy pulled up to the Livingston Parish Fairgrounds for his live concert Tuesday evening, he was riding pretty with his family in a purple and gold boat.

Like Hardy, the boat has local roots.

It was a Strike Series bass boat built by Gatortrax Boats, a custom aluminum boat company based in Springfield, said Kent Saxon, one of the company's owners.

The boat was specially emblazoned with "Laine" in all capital letters on the side. It was towed by an armored vehicle in the parade that preceded the concert in Livingston.

Saxon said he did not know Hardy personally, but he's happy to support him.

"We wish him the best of luck," Saxon said.
