ST. AMANT — The first of four public forums on a proposed renewal of two property taxes for the Ascension Parish school district on the March 30 ballot will be held Monday night in St. Amant.

The public forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Amant High School cafetorium, 12035 La. 431, St. Amant.

The School Board will be asking voters on March 30 to renew a 10-year, 7.4 mill-property tax for general operation costs that was first approved in 1983. 

On the same ballot, the School Board will be asking for the renewal of a 10-year, 2.5-mill property tax, first approved in 1994, for building operations and maintenance.

Additional public forums will be held:

  • Feb. 12, 6:30 p.m., Donaldsonville High cafetorium, 100 Tiger Drive Donaldsonville.
  • Feb. 18, 6:30 p.m., East Ascension High School cafetorium, 612 E. Worthey Road, Gonzales.
  • Feb. 20, 6:30 p.m., Dutchtown High School cafetorium, 13165 La. 73, Geismar.
