Auditions are open to all performers 17 and older for “Strings Attached,” an original musical comedy written by Larry Schexnaydre and Paul Taranto.
The play centers around Broadway actor Ben Green, who longs to be a leading man but is always stuck in the chorus. He meets the devil, who makes him an offer to star in and direct a big Broadway-style musical in hell with a cast consisting of the five directors he loathes.
Auditions will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Center Stage Performing Arts Academy, Building 1, 39318 La. 74, Gonzales. Be ready to perform 32 bars of a song in the classic musical theater style showing character and musicality. An accompanist will be on hand.
A separate dance audition begins at 5 p.m., where all participants will learn a combination routine. Wear dance attire.
Call (225) 937-3160 to reserve an audition time slot. If you cannot make the listed times, call (225) 937-3160 and ask about possible alternatives.
Callbacks will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Performances will be July 21-24 and July 29-31 at Ascension Community Theatre, 823 N. Felicity Ave., Gonzales.
