Trinity AME Church, 1420 S. Darla Ave., Gonzales, is welcoming its new pastor, the Rev. Ritney Castine. His first service will be at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Castine is the son of a pastor, a former 8th Episcopal District YPD president and member of the AMEC General Board.
He comes from Allen Chapel AME Church in Washington, D.C., where he was minister to young adults. He is the managing director of community and youth engagement at Truth Initiative, a D.C.-based public health organization, and principal and chief strategist at Imagine Greater Inc., a consulting firm that assists nonprofits and other organizations to become more focused and effective agents of change.
Castine holds a nonprofit management executive certificate from Georgetown University and is working on a master's degree in divinity from Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio. He was ordained an itinerant deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in October 2016.
He recently married his wife, Lauren-Brianna Castine.
