Lisa Jones, a deputy with the Appraisal Department of the Ascension Parish Assessor’s Office, is the latest deputy to earn Certified Louisiana Deputy Assessor status.
Certification comes from the Louisiana Assessor’s Association and the International Association of Assessing Officers, considered the world’s leading training and learning organization for assessment professionals, a news release said.
To achieve certification, Jones completed coursework ensuring competency in matters such as property valuation for tax purposes, property tax administration and property tax policy.
She is a 13-year veteran of the Assessor’s Office, where she has roots going back to her mother, Judy Hidalgo, who retired from the Assessor’s Office after 33 years.
“It takes a lot of dedication to reach this level in her career,” Assessor Mert Smiley said of Jones. “At the Ascension Parish Assessor’s Office, training is very important because of the ever-changing assessment criteria.”
