Natives of Geismar and Prairieville were among 43 graduating seniors in LSU’s spring 2014 class to receive the University Medal during a ceremony on May 14 in the LSU Union Theater.
The event was part of the university’s 286th commencement exercises. The medalists were also recognized during the main commencement ceremony later that evening in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Anna E. Ferrell, of Geismar, who majored in elementary education, received a bachelor of science from the College of Human Sciences and Education.
Leslie Marie Burch, of Prairieville, who majored in kinesiology human movement science, received a bachelor of science from the College of Human Sciences and Education.
Burch is the daughter of Ed and Sally Burch, of Prairieville, and Ferrell is the daughter of Ray and Elizabeth Ferrell, of Geismar.
The University Medal is awarded to those undergraduates who finish with the highest grade-point averages in each LSU graduating class.
