A $35,000 donation from Potash Corp. to the city of Gonzales will pay for repairs and renovations to the roof and restrooms of outbuildings behind the Gonzales City Room building, officials said.

The City Room, on La. 30, is rented out for functions, used by the Gonzales Soccer Association and used as storage for the city’s recreation department.

“We are so touched by this show of generosity,” Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux said. “This donation allows the City Room facilities to be used even more by residents and also for renovations, which have now given us a safer, more family-friendly environment to book functions. We cannot thank Potash Corp. enough for helping us to achieve this goal.”
