Prairieville attorney Aaron Lawler announced his candidacy for the Ascension Parish Council District 7 seat.
He said his priorities for the council are to establish trust and transparency in government, maintain and increase safety measures through partnerships with the Sheriff’s Office and Prairieville Fire Department, and encourage smart growth with a focus on attracting quality businesses.
He also said he will work to identify and secure government funds to fix hazardous streets, improve sewerage and drainage, upgrade recreation and protect property values through zoning laws.
Lawler, 40, a Republican, moved to the area more than 12 years ago from New Orleans. He is married to Julie Atkinson Lawler, and they have three sons: Hyland, 12; Riley, 10; and Yeager, 8.
“Prairieville is not only my present but is also my future,” he said in a release. “I’m here to stay and I am committed to serving the current and long-term needs of our community. We need a real plan for Prairieville that protects our community from out-of-control growth.”
Lawler is a managing partner at the law firm Casler, Bordelon and Lawler, a practicing attorney for over 13 years, a graduate of Loyola Law School in New Orleans and an LSU graduate.
