Shouts and cheers will ring out from the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center’s Savoy Arena during the 16th Spartan/Gator Tailgate Shout Out from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 2.

Held the day before the annual East Ascension High School vs. St. Amant High School football game, the community pep rally for students, staff, alumni and fans decides the owner of the 2017 Spirit Stick. A decibel meter determines which school makes the most noise.

The event caps off a week of events leading up to the game, including a jambalaya lunch and Shout Out Ryder Cup Shoot Out golf event.

The golf shootout is slated for Oct. 30 at Pelican Point Golf Club in Gonzales. Last year’s golf event included 173 participants and raised more than $7,000 for the schools. Interested players should contact Bret Hughes at East Ascension High or Camile Trabeau at St. Amant High.

The jambalaya lunch on Nov. 2 will be held in the Rouses parking lot on Airline Highway in Gonzales. Jambalaya orders for businesses and T-shirt orders can be placed through Sherri Jenkins at (225) 644-4820. The Shout Out Committee will deliver jambalaya orders for businesses. All proceeds go to both schools’ athletic programs.

Kickoff for the football game is at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at The Pit in St. Amant.
