Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts Foundation volunteers exceeded the $75,000 fundraising goal during the seventh annual phonathon held Jan. 25-28, bringing in more than $85,000.
“The phonathon is the foundation’s largest fundraiser each year and provides us with critical funds needed to support our students, faculty and staff,” said Katja Thomakos, executive director of the LSMSA Foundation.
Over four nights, 50 student volunteers, along with faculty, staff and alumni, helped call more than 3,000 members of the LSMSA community, including alumni, parents and grandparents.
“The best part was seeing how happy everyone was at the end when they announced that we reached our goal,” said Charlie Roppolo, a sophomore from Denham Springs who volunteered during the phonathon.
Student volunteers included senior Josef Hofman and junior Gabrielle Yoes-Favrot, both of Gonzales.
