The monthly Clinton Community Market begins at 8 a.m. Saturday with vendors setting up shop near the East Feliciana Parish Courthouse to sell everything from fresh produce to jewelry, hand-crafted baskets and Mardi Gras favors.
The highlight of the morning will be the Eighth annual Feliciana Family and Friends Mardi Gras parade, which will roll through town starting at 11 a.m.
East Feliciana Parish School Superintendent Henderson Lewis Jr. will be the parade’s king, and the queen will be Clinton native Ginger Andrews Hunt, founder of Primary Care Providers for a Healthy Feliciana Inc.
East Feliciana High School football star Kendell Beckwith, an LSU recruit, will ride in the parade with the “Last of a Dying Breed” riding club.
Representatives of the Zachary Police and Fire departments will compete at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in a flag football game at Zachary’s Bronco Stadium.
Admission at the gate is a canned food item and $1.
Registration for the Zachary Parks and Recreation T-ball and baseball leagues will be held at the Youth Park, 1650 Mount Pleasant Road, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Fees are $55 for T-ball, and $70 for baseball, ages 6-zachary.org.
Registration also is offered through the Zachary Parks and Recreation website, http://www.cityofLeague games begin April 1.

Victoria Hines, a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician with Fire Protection District 1 of West Feliciana Parish was awarded a tuition reimbursement check last week by the Louisiana State Firemen’s Association, which received a federal grant to support volunteer firefighter recruitment.
The grant provides either $8,000 to an associate’s degree program or $16,000 to a bachelors’ degree program for qualified applicants.
Hines is a 2010 West Feliciana High School graduate and an inaugural member of the Fire Protection District’s Emergency Services Apprenticeship Program.
She continues to serve with Fire Protection District 1 and is pursuing a nursing degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
