The Zachary Rotary Club is organizing a book drive to help re-supply libraries and schools devastated by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
The group said it has found and is still looking for school districts and libraries that suffered significant losses during the hurricanes, as well as partners who will help distribute books to the places that need them most.
Bret Funk, chairman of the chapter's literacy committee said, "We will be collecting gently-used (or new … no one will complain about new) books for grades pre-K through Grade 12 and shipping them to our partner organizations, who will handle distributing the books to those facilities and families in need."
Funk said the group will collect books through the end of October and beyond if necessary.
Donated books can be dropped off at Infinit Technology Group, 4360 Lee St. Other drop-off spots may be named later.
Funk said that while no system has been created for it yet, they would not turn down cash donations.
