Juniors in Sharon Ourso's English III class at West Feliciana High School recently planned and crafted models of tiny homes inspired by the Transcendentalist movement in American literature. Transcendentalist authors such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau were critical of society’s materialism and conformity and sought, in Emerson’s words, "an original relation to the universe," often through solitude and minimalism, according to a news release.
