East Feliciana Parish student Kennedi Brown, of Clinton Elementary School and who will enter sixth grade at East Feliciana Middle School in August, has earned recognition from the National Beta Club.
During the 2014-15 school year, Brown served as president of the school’s Junior Beta Club and was nominated by Assistant Principal Tongia Sanders to receive the John W. Harris Leadership Award, named after the club’s founder. The award honors outstanding members whose character best exemplifies the ideals of leadership.
Sanders said Brown was recognized for her excellent leadership at Clinton Elementary and in several East Feliciana Parish communities.
Only 25 Junior Beta Club members from across the nation are chosen each year from about 450,000 to receive the award.
Brown was awarded the 2015 Junior Harris Award at the National Beta Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 28.
She also received a scholarship to the Beta Leadership Camp.
