Signs of the time
On Facebook, the East Feliciana Police Jury reminds residents about the parish sign policy. "A signage round-up project will begin this summer and fines will be assessed," it said on Facebook.
Business and political signs are prohibited in, on or along "public streets, roads, highways, sidewalks, rights-of-way, utility servitudes, or on any poles, posts, lines, cables, trees, or other objects therein or thereon." Signs are allowed on private property that doesn't fall into the regulation's exceptions.
The ordinance defines both types of signs. A business sign is any for a commercial activity or one in which services or goods are exchanged for money, services or goods. A political sign is not limited to candidates, it includes ordinances, constitutional amendment and other issues to be decided by a governing body.
Check Sec. 13A-3. of East Feliciana's legal code for specifics.
