North Oaks Sports Medicine and North Oaks Physician Group’s orthopaedic surgeons’ Student-Athletes of the Month for March are LiNeshon “Lala” Legard and Reed Roberts, of Hammond High Magnet School; Jessica Nesom, of Doyle High School in Livingston; and Britt Harris, of Springfield High School.
Legard, 17, is junior with a 3.5 GPA and has been a member of the track and field team for three years. In her first meet of the 2015-16 season, Legard had three first-place finishes and a second-place finish. She also plays basketball and softball and is enrolled in the medical magnet program’s sports medicine classes. Her parents are Shirell and Lionel Legard.
Roberts, 17, is a junior, has a 4.0 GPA, has played on the baseball team for three years as a catcher and also plays football. At a recent baseball tournament in New Orleans, Roberts hit a grand slam. He has been inducted into the National Honor Society and is enrolled in the medical magnet program’s sports medicine classes. His parents are Southeastern Louisiana University head football coach Ron Roberts and DiDi Roberts.
Nesom, 16, is a junior with a 3.78 GPA. She is a member of the girls basketball team, averaging 12 points, six rebounds and three assists per game. She also is a two-year member of the track team, as well as belonging to the Beta Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Her parents are James and Melissa Nesom.
Harris, 16, is a junior with a 3.3 GPA who tutors other students in math and has played baseball for three years as second baseman. He’s collected four RBI this year and earned All-District Honorable Mention recognition in his sophomore year. He is involved in the youth group at Bethlehem First Baptist Church of Albany and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and helps coach Little League T-ball. His parents are Springfield High School Principal Spencer Harris and Tammy Harris.
Student-Athletes of the Month must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, excel in athletic competition, participate in school and community organizations and respect coaches, teammates, officials, teachers and their peers.
