Fourth-grade students at Holy Ghost Catholic School celebrated Character Day last month after reading an Accelerated Reader chapter book.

Each student chose his or her favorite character and came to school dressed as that character before the school year ended. Students had to select appropriate clothing to resemble the chosen character from the book. Each student brought at least one prop that represented something from the book. The students were encouraged to use their imagination when giving their oral presentation by summarizing the book as if they were the actual character.

Some of the characters discussed were Geronimo Stilton, Katie the Kitten Fairy, Rudy of “The Catcher’s Mask” and John Lennon from the book “Who Were the Beatles?”
