St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School in Hammond celebrated Catholic Schools Week Jan. 25-31. The 2015 theme was “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge & Service.”

St. Thomas Aquinas honored distinguished graduate Katy Zahn, class of 2001, on Jan. 26 at a diocesewide dinner in Baton Rouge. A Grandparent’s Day breakfast was held Jan. 27, and an all-school Mass was held Jan. 28. Following Mass, the Brotherhood and Sisterhood Awards and STA’s Student of the Year were honored.

The school’s celebration ended Jan. 30 with a visit by Bishop Robert W. Muench and his dedication of the new academic building.

“It is so fitting that we are able to dedicate our new building during Catholic Schools Week,” Principal Jose Becerra said. “A Catholic education is a gift. Our students have been witnesses during the past two years to the passion and dedication that so many people in our community have for St. Thomas Aquinas and the gift of Catholic education for our area.”
