An Amite man missing since August was identified as the person found dead in a wooded area last week, Tangipahoa Parish officials said Thursday.
On Nov. 20, a rabbit hunter discovered human skeletal remains in a wooded area near East Factory Street in Amite. The LSU FACES Lab and the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office identified the remains as 50-year-old Leonard Hickerson, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Hickerson was reported missing by family on Aug. 9, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, Amite Police Department, Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office and the LSU FACES Lab are continuing to investigate the case.
