A former Livingston Parish SWAT leader and teacher accused of numerous sex crimes, including rape and child pornography, will go to trial in mid-2021.

The trial for Dennis, 44, and Cynthia, 35, Perkins will be held in Livingston Parish from July 12 and is expected to continue for two weeks due to the extensive evidence in the 150-count indictment handed down on the two.

The two were arrested in October after investigators found enough evidence to charge the married couple with offenses including first-degree rape, video voyeurism, mingling harmful substances, sexual battery of a child under 13, and the production and possession of child pornography, among others.

The charging documents reference two juvenile victims and one adult victim. Dennis Perkins is further charged with raping an adult victim in 2014, and the sexual abuse of a dog. A third defendant, Melanie Curtin, was arrested in February in relation to the 2014 rape, in which court documents say she helped Dennis Perkins sexually assault and film an unconscious woman.

The mingling harmful substances charge both Cynthia and Dennis face are in relation to claims Dennis ejaculated on baked goods and served them to unsuspecting victims. While the prosecuting agency -- the Attorney General's Office -- has been tight-lipped about the details of the case, citing privacy of the victims, a series of civil lawsuits against the Livingston Parish School Board and the Perkins' claims those baked goods were served to Cynthia's students at Westside Junior High School in Walker.

Dennis Perkins was a longtime Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office deputy and was most recently the head of the SWAT team before he was terminated during the investigation into these allegations.

Cynthia Perkins had taught at Westside Junior High as an English Language Arts teacher but resigned on the day of her arrest.

Curtin's case is ongoing in Livingston Parish courts.
