The Louisiana YMCA Youth in Government state delegation received first place for the second year in a row at the 48th annual YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs, held June 27-July 3 at the Blue Ridge Assembly in North Carolina.
In addition, Max Martin, of McKinley High School, received an Outstanding Statesman award.
Proposals at the conference moved through four stages to be passed. Of the nearly 650 students at the conference, 17 of Louisiana’s 25 delegates moved on to additional stages of debates and committees —the most of any state delegation. Several Louisiana delegates’ proposals made it to or passed all stages of the conference.
