Enjoy Family Game Night at Expressway Park every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with music and games for all ages.

Arbor Day

Celebrate Louisiana Arbor Day at the LSU Agricultural Center Botanic Gardens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free and open to the public.

Activities include scaling a Louisiana live oak, meeting Smokey the Bear, a scavenger hunt, learning about native trees and planting a tree to help reforest the native trees lost during Hurricane Gustav. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Rustic chic craft

Adults in their 20s can craft mini pallet coasters at River Center Branch Library from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Supplies will be provided for all participants to make a set of four coasters.

Movie matinee

Carver Branch Library’s movie matinee for adults at 2 p.m. Saturday is “Wonder Woman,” starring Gal Gadot as the Amazonian superhero. The movie will be shown in meeting room 1.

Art adventures

The Main Library’s Adventures in Art series for children continues at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the children’s storytime area. Participation is limited to eight children.

Kids will read Veronique Tadjo’s “Lord of the Dance,” a book about the masks of the African country of Cote d’Ivoire, then create their own masks.

Job Fair Success

There’s still time to register for the Main Library’s Job Fair Success workshop, slated for 10 a.m. to noon Monday in the large meeting room. Learn what to expect at job fairs and how to prepare, make a good first impression and avoid common mistakes.

Saving memories

A teen craft session at Eden Park Branch Library features a personalized memory box. It’s available from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the meeting room.

Horseshoes & Camping Crews

Wednesday is the deadline to register for BREC’s inaugural Horse Shoes and Camping Crews campout at Farr Park Equestrian Center, which will be held from 3 p.m. Feb. 3 to 10 a.m. Feb. 4.

This family under-the-stars experience includes horseback riding, archery, a movie at dusk, a campfire, meals and other activities. Children must be ages 6 or older to ride a horse. Cost is $35 per family of five and an additional $5 for each person older than 5.

Movie mixer

With Valentine’s Day on its way, love is in the air. Plan a night with that special sweetie at Jefferson Highway Park, where a Valentine’s Movie Mixer will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 2.

The evening, for ages 21 and older, features a choice of wine, beer or soda, as well as appetizers, trivia, a movie and more. Cost is $25 per couple and registration is due by Feb. 2.
