Dr. Moisés Arriaga, a neurotologist with Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group, recently was elected president of the American Neurotology Society at its annual meeting in Dallas.
The international organization is devoted to the treatment and research of advanced ear surgery and skull base surgery, a news release said.
Arriaga also was elected president of the Otosclerosis Study Group, a national organization devoted to surgery and treatment of otosclerosis and stapedectomy, two conditions that cause deafness.
Arriaga is responsible for coordinating educational programs, overseeing research funding and interacting with other professional organizations for both groups, a news release said.
Arriaga is the director of the Hearing and Balance Center at Our Lady of the Lake and the director of otology-neurotology and professor of otalryngology and neurosurgery at LSU.
He has a degree in medicine from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and completed an internship at Ochsner Health Foundation in New Orleans. Arriaga performed his residency training at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and fellowship training at the House Ear Clinic and House Ear Institute in Los Angeles. He is board certified in otalryngology and neurotology.
