Mrs. Claus visit

Mrs. Claus is coming to town at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

She’s visiting the Jones Creek Regional Library for an hour-long program.

Christmas is near, and Santa is busy with his elves at the North Pole. So to help him, Mrs. Claus and the Holiday Clown will be visiting area library branches during December. The Holiday Clown will entertain for about 20 minutes, and then Mrs. Claus will sit with the children to hear what they want from Santa.

Parks set holiday events

With the sound of jingle bells in the air, families can celebrate the holiday season all month long with many family-friendly events throughout East Baton Rouge Parish parks and nature sites.

ZooLights at BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Dec. 30. The fee is $5 for adults and teens, $4 for seniors and $3 for children ages 2-12.

Zoo grounds close at 9 p.m. each day and will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Grab your golf clubs and swing into the holiday season at BREC’s Holiday Scramble on Dec. 6 at 9 a.m. at Beaver Creek Golf Course. The fee for the 18-hole, three-player scramble is $150 per team and includes carts and lunch. For more information, call (225) 658-6338 or visit

Planta Claus is coming to the Hilltop Arboretum. The Hodge Podge Year-End Plant Sale and Gift Shop Open House is scheduled from 9 am. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Hilltop Arboretum, 11855 Highland Road.

Mark your calendars for BREC’s fifth annual Caroling in City Park on Dec. 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Celebrate the holiday season with a park lighting ceremony, candlelight caroling, festive family activities and a visit from Santa Claus.
