St. James Episcopal Day School was awarded $500 for having the highest number of students participate in the Louisiana Kids Marathon on Jan. 16.
The Louisiana Marathon committee presented a check to St. James Episcopal Day School on March 14 during the school’s weekly chapel service.
“It was such a joy to watch almost half of our student body participate in the marathon. I am so humbled and thankful for the generous gift from The Louisiana Marathon committee,” said physical education teacher Carrie Chandler.
Chandler encouraged school-wide participation and support of the annual race. Her classes leading up to the marathon revolved around the importance of physical activity, step counting and goal setting. Students participated in the mile-run, 5K and 10K.
This is the second year in a row St. James had the most students participate in the marathon.
