Sixteen Runnels junior high and high school students have been selected for All-State or All-Parish Honor Bands.

Five Runnels students were named as first chairs in their sections, a news release from the school said.

Four Runnels students were chosen for All-State Ensembles.

Connor Matthews was named first chair, oboe and to the All-State Symphonic Band; and Alex Acosta, Sean Parker and Luc Kharey were all chosen for All-State Orchestra.

Acosta will be in the violin II section, and Parker and Kharey will play in the cello section, the release said.

The All-State Symphonic Band will hold its concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at LSU, and the All-State Orchestra concert will be at 1:50 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Twelve Runnels Junior High students were selected as members of All-Parish Middle School Honor Bands, and four were named as first chairs in their sections, the release said.

First chairs in the All-Parish Middle School Symphonic Band are Aidan Matthews, flute; Caleb Reid, trombone; and Ian Duke, baritone. Nik Horton was chosen first chair, clarinet for the All-Parish Middle School Honor Band.

Also chosen for the All-Parish Middle School Symphonic Band were Caroline Daigle, second chair, flute; Sophie Arceneaux, third chair, flute; Sarah Johnston, fifth chair, flute; Parker Collett, second chair, percussion; and Preston Kyle, third chair, alto saxophone.

Runnels students selected to perform with the All-Parish Middle School Concert Band are Evan Beoubay, third chair, clarinet; Joseph Ismail, fourth chair, clarinet; and Chris Yura, second chair, alto saxophone.

All-Parish Middle School Honor Band concerts will be held at McKinley Middle School at 7 p.m. Friday.
