A Baton Rouge resident was among two people killed in a crash Saturday evening near the St. Helena Parish town of Pine Grove, State Police said.
Ronette Spann, 30, and James Dorsey, 47, of Independence, were killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash around 5:40 p.m. on LA 16 just east of Pine Grove, State Police said in a news release.
Spann was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes and crashed head-on into a 1998 Ford F-150 driven by Dorsey, the report says.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office.
Neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said.
As part of the investigation, blood samples were obtained and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis, police said.
