Several West Feliciana Parish School Board members visited the State Capitol in Baton Rouge to meet with Gov. John Bel Edwards and legislators Feb. 15.
The purpose of the meeting was to relate how important state funding is to local school systems.
After hearing a speech from Edwards, the group toured the committee rooms and met with various leaders, including state Rep. J. Rogers Pope, former superintendent of Livingston Parish schools, who serves on the House Education Committee.
“It was a great opportunity for our board members to build relationships and share the success of West Feliciana Parish schools. It is part of our responsibility to remind our representatives that we must protect the classroom,” Superintendent Hollis Milton said.
