The St. Francisville Symphony Association has announced Jessica Hester and Brittany Mott, both of St. Francisville, as its 2015 scholarship recipients.

The girls received a $500 scholarship each.

Hester, the daughter of Nancy and Alan Hester, is a 2011 graduate of West Feliciana High School and 2015 graduate of Baton Rouge Community College. She will attend Southeastern Louisiana University in the fall, studying business management with plans to pursue a career in music promotion.

Hester volunteers at local events with a musical aspect, such as the Modern South Music Festival and Louisiana Veterans Festival, according to a news release.

She regularly attends and provides assistance at St. Francisville Symphony concerts and is developing her musical talents by learning guitar, the release said.

Mott, the daughter of Claire and Arthur Mott, graduated from West Feliciana High School on May 15 and plans to attend Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.

Mott has studied piano for seven years and has been a member of the St. Francisville United Methodist Church choir for eight.

While at WFHS, she was a member of the performance choir and competed in the Louisiana Music Educators Association’s district and state competitions, where she earned superior ratings and first-place wins in all of her events.

She has been active in her church youth program and is a former member of the WFHS dance team, BETA Club and soccer team.

The nonprofit St. Francisville Symphony Association works to bring music to the people of West Feliciana Parish through concerts and children’s educational programs as well as financial support to music programs and students at parish schools.
