The West Feliciana Historical Society invites the public to check out what’s new at the museum and its recent improvements at 11757 Ferdinand St., St. Francisville.

First Fridays at Rosedown

Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, St. Francisville, presents Garden Tour Friday at 10 a.m.

Visitors are invited on a guided walking tour of the historic Rosedown Plantation Gardens and outbuildings, where they will learn about significant heirloom varieties of plantings and focus on both historic and modern cultivation methods and care.

Back-to-school event

Since 1955, Happi Llandiers Inc., a West Feliciana Parish nonprofit of educators and professionals, has been helping children and families in need.

The group focuses on programs that bridge gaps and meet the needs of the community, Secretary Peggy Casanova said.

Happi Llandiers will host its annual back-to-school event Aug. 1.

Following registration from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the West Feliciana Middle School gym, 9559 Bains Road, St. Francisville, the event will begin with students receiving school supplies.

Elliott’s groundbreaking

The town of St. Francisville and the Greater St. Francisville Chamber of Commerce will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 5 p.m. Thursday for the new location of Elliott’s Pharmacy on Live Oak Centre Drive. Everyone is invited to attend to help celebrate.

Middle school orientation

Students attending West Feliciana Middle school in St. Francisville will attend the following orientation sessions before the start of school on Aug. 12: sixth-graders, Aug. 6; seventh-graders, Aug. 10; and eighth-graders, Aug. 11.
