The West Feliciana Historical Society has named Susie Tully, of St. Francisville, as its 2016 Audubon Pilgrimage chairwoman.
Tully became involved with the Audubon Pilgrimage soon after moving to West Feliciana Parish in 1993.
She has served as a house docent, Rural Homestead docent and cemetery tour coordinator for the annual pilgrimage.
The event that has been a family affair for her husband, Tom, and their daughters, Claudia and Fiona. The family has participated in many pilgrimage activities and events, such as volunteering as house docents, cemetery tour docents and joining the Sweet Maids and Maypole dancers.
The Tullys restored their circa 1918 home, the Levert Bockel House, which was on the 1998 and 2015 pilgrimage tours.
Susie Tully was born and raised in the New Orleans area and graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School. She graduated from LSU in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, and became a licensed professional engineer.
She worked at several chemical manufacturers in south Louisiana and in all areas of the industry, including engineering and engineering supervision, production, business development, human resources and public affairs.
Tully was involved with the Louisiana Chemical Association . She was inducted into the LSU College of Engineering’s Dean’s Club in 1996, an award that recognizes the professional contributions of engineering alumni.
In 2005, Tully took a hiatus from her career to raise her daughters, who are students at West Feliciana High School.
Tully volunteers with several community groups, presently serving on West Feliciana’s Tourist Commission and Historical Society board and the St. Francisville Symphony Association board. She is an alumna of the West Feliciana Women’s Service League.
Tully also is a Louisiana Master Gardener and member of Feliciana Master Gardeners and Feliciana Country Gardeners. As a member of the Feliciana Master Gardeners, she served as chairwoman for the St. Francisville Spring Stroll for two years.
Tully and her family attend Grace Episcopal Church, where she serves as information coordinator for Grace Church Cemetery, chairwoman of the Grace Preschool Advisory committee and has served as senior warden on the Grace Church Vestry .
Tully likes singing in the church choir, playing tennis, reading, running, gardening and going on family vacations.
