Plenty of visitors and locals enjoyed three beautiful days of pleasant temperatures and sunshine for the annual Christmas in the Country weekend celebrated in St. Francisville Dec. 4-6.
Mayor Billy D’Aquilla lit the town’s Christmas tree and hosted a reception and fireworks on Friday, while Voices in Motion, the Bains Lower Elementary Choir, performed holiday songs on the front porch of Town Hall.
A prayer breakfast at Methodist Church Fellowship Hall got Saturday’s activities started, along with the annual Breakfast with St. Nick at Jackson Hall presented by the Women’s Service League.
Among Saturday’s highlights were the first Christmas on the Run fun run and 5K races benefiting Relay for Life, the Talented Art Walk and a host of activities in Parker Park that included music, food and plenty of homemade arts and crafts.
The Friends of the West Feliciana Parish Library showcased its annual Christmas Tour of Homes while Oakley Plantation featured a colonial Christmas with cooking demonstrations and candlelight tours. First Baptist Church offered a live nativity.
Events on Sunday culminated with a visit from Santa Claus at the town’s annual Christmas parade along Ferdinand and Commerce streets, and later, a Christmas Holiday Brass concert and dessert reception was held at Hemingbough.
