St. Francisville is busy with activity as the holiday season approaches.

Plenty of events are on tap as folks prepare to transform homes and businesses into Christmas in the country.

Twinkling lights, music and children surround the town while visiting shoppers leisurely go to and fro in this rustic place.

But for residents, it’s home in the ’Ville and time to deck the hills with lights and holly.

Veterans Wall

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the remaining days of November, visitors to the Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, 12501 La. 10, can help honor past and present veterans by providing photographs for a Veterans Wall in the gift shop conference room.

The wall includes information about veterans in the Turnbull and Bowman families.

Provide photographs no larger than 8 by 10 inches and name tags with information such as military branch, rank and unit.

Photos must be copies — no originals will be accepted.

For information, call Rosedown at (225) 635-3110.

Vote for West Feliciana

West Feliciana is in 16th place and needs the community’s help to ensure it earns top votes to be considered for — and win — one of 10 Levitt AMP Grant Awards for outdoor music concerts.

The AMP Grant program is made possible by Levitt Pavilions, a national nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of America through the power of free music performances.

Musical performances come to small and midsized communities across the country through the AMP grants, which residents can vote on to make happen in St. Francisville at the West Feliciana Sports Park and Recreation.

The AMP Grants are specifically designed to meet the needs and capacity of small to midsized towns.

Residents may vote twice daily during the month of November to help determine the top 20 finalists, whose applications will be reviewed in December. The top 10 will be announced Dec. 15.

Each grantee will receive up to $25,000 in matching funds to present the Levitt AMP (West Feliciana) Music Series, a minimum of 10 free outdoor concerts presented over 10 consecutive weeks during 2015-16.

The concert will feature a musically diverse lineup of high-caliber entertainment in keeping with the signature Levitt program.
