The LSU Law Center’s mock trial team of Rachel Stafford Day, Ashley Knarr, Adam Ross and St. Francisville native Jeffery “Beau” Wheeler placed second in the National Civil Mock Trial Competition at Florida State University’s College of Law in Tallahassee Feb. 27.

The LSU Law Center was one of 12 law schools invited based on the strength of its trial advocacy program, a news release said.

The team was coached by 2008 alumnus Jason Hessick, of the East Baton Rouge Public Defenders Office, and 2006 graduate Kathryn Sheely, of the Baton Rouge Capital Conflict Office.

LSU’s team defeated Georgetown University Law Center, Charleston School of Law, Florida Coastal School of Law and Faulkner University Thomas Goode Jones School of Law and was narrowly defeated in the championship by Fordham University School of Law.
