ST. GABRIEL — The St. Gabriel Police Department asked for the public’s help Thursday in locating a Baton Rouge man facing prosecution on counts of attempted armed robbery and attempted murder.
Detective James Williams said Wardell Anderson, 35, would be booked after his arrest on one count of attempted armed robbery and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Anderson is suspected of entering the St. Gabriel Grocery and Deli on Feb. 22 with a gun and attempting to rob the store and shoot two employees. Williams said Anderson’s gun malfunctioned during the incident.
Williams said a joint investigation by the St. Gabriel Police Department and the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office led to the identification of Anderson as the man suspected of committing the armed robbery.
Anyone with any information on Anderson’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867 or the St. Gabriel Police Department at (225) 642-5222.
