Sister, brother shot dead outside New Roads nightclub identified; arrest warrant issued for suspect _lowres

Sinica Lee Williams and sister Lechelle Rita Williams were shot dead outside a New Roads nightclub in February.

Pointe Coupee Parish sheriff’s deputies on Friday arrested a New Roads man they believe may have been involved in the fatal shootings of two siblings this week at a New Roads nightclub.

Capt. Steve Juge said deputies arrested Terry B. Matthews, 30, 615 Singletary St., and booked him into the Pointe Coupee Parish Jail on felony possession of a firearm.

Juge said all detectives know at this point is that Matthews was at the Sugar Shack nightclub on the night Lechelle Rita Williams, 42, 709 Olinde St., and her 38-year-old brother Sinica Lee Williams were killed about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the club’s parking lot.

“We don’t know how he will fit into the puzzle, but we do know he was on the scene and he was in possession of a firearm,” Juge said.

The Sheriff’s Office is still on the hunt for the suspected triggerman, who they have identified as Jamie D. Croom, of New Roads.

Croom is wanted on two counts of first-degree murder in the siblings’ deaths.

Authorities said earlier this week Croom shot the brother and sister after a physical altercation broke out at the nightclub.
