PLAQUEMINE — Two more students of Iberville Parish's Math, Science and Arts Academy-West campus have been arrested in connection with a photo posted on social media last week of an eighth grade student holding a gun and threatening violence at the school.

Both students face a charge of disturbing the peace by alarming the public, Sheriff Brett Stassi said Thursday. They were released to their parents but still face disciplinary action from the School Board, the sheriff said.

Stassi said the two students, whom he did not name because they are minors, are suspected of having added the threatening message that appeared on the photo that circulated over social media on Dec. 13 showing the eighth grader holding the gun.

The image photo showed the student wearing a bandanna, holding a semi-automatic rifle and warning students not to attend school.

That student was arrested and faces a charge of terrorizing. The sheriff has said previously the eighth grader is likely facing expulsion.
