A trio of beads, coincidentally in the colors of Mardi Gras, lie in a puddle during a parade, in Baton Rouge, La.

Organizers have canceled the Krewe of Old River Landing Lundi Gras Parade in Pointe Coupee Parish due to high water levels on the Mississippi River.

Forecasts show river levels are expected to be at moderate flood stages at the time of the Monday, Feb. 24, festival in New Roads.

Though river levels will drop slightly the week before, forecasters predict they will rise at the time of the event.

The Lundi Gras parade typically draws tens of thousands of visitors from across the state to Batchelor.

The two parades on Mardi Gras day in New Roads are scheduled to be held as usual.

Editor's note: A prior version of this story incorrectly said the Lundi Gras parade was in New Roads. It's in Batchelor. The Advocate regrets the error.
